1/2 out of I don't know if you've ever been to Crystal Palace, and how would I, I don't know who's reading this! But if you haven't been there, you must go! It's a beautiful, quite hilly, quaint, and happening little community in Southeast London that a lot of central Londoners never venture out to. Though we are mega awesome chip snobs, we are not snob snobs. We felt miles from hectic and electric London and felt more like we were...well, home.
(Note: We at Chipsters are now seriously considering moving our operations to this area.)
We wandered round the high street area looking for something interesting to beckon us with it's gravitational pull, an establishment to send out it's chippy vibe. Long story short...one did. It was the White Hart. The White Hart is a trendy looking, shabby sheik place with hip looking hipsters behind the bar. We asked the lads to recommend something and we had a sharing platter avec chips, of course!
The chips were big and crunchy on the outside, really flaky and soft on the inside and nicely seasoned. Some of the chips had the skins still on, which is a big plus here at chipsters, but most did not for some reason. It was as if they peeled most of the potatoes and just left skin on the smaller ones because they were too hard to peel. I would have left the skin on everything! But that's me! I'm only a bloody chips expert for Xenu's sake! Anyhoo...
All in all, the experience was great. The other food we had was really great, I would go as far to say much better than the chips. The chips were almost an afterthought here, though good, they were not as good as they could have been.
I would recommended the place as a fun place to hang out with hip people, good music, good food and good drinks. Just leave more skin on next time lads! Oh, and the graffiti on the back patio...that's not for me to say...
